Some of the biggest names in Hollywood pitched in recently to help out with a celebrity T-shirt auction designed to make the dreams of ailing children come true. The project, chaired by Jane Seymour, which featured specially painted “one-of-a-kind” Tees, was sold on-line in May to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Snuggle fabric softner sponsored the painting project and donated $50,000 to help kick things off. Officials sent out special decorating kits with all the T-shirts and asked stars to make special “one-of-a-kind” T-shirts for the auction.
Stars in Hollywood sent messages of hope to the children the foundation benefits – children with life-threatening illnesses whose special wishes, the foundation helps make come true.
Among the Hollywood stars who participated by painting funny sayings, slogans, signing autographs or drawing pictures on the Tees included George Clooney, Whoopi Goldberg, Joan Rivers, Katie Couric, Carl Reiner, Matt Lauer, Rosie O’Donnell, Ben Affleck, Mary Hart and Eriq La Salle. In addition, the entire casts of “NYPD Blue,” “The Producers” and “The Practrice” pitched in to help.
Rosie O’Donnell’s T-shirt featured a patriotic-painted hand. Ben Affleck’s was simple, but sweet. It said: Pilgrim Soul. Carl Reiner drew a funny character and Joan Rivers’ shirt featured a drawing of her dog.
It’s nice to know there are still celebrities who care enough to help others.
