 Peter Nero |
The Peter Nero Interview – In his trailer-dressing room, backstage at a concert, jazz musician Peter Nero talks about his fingers flying all over the keyboards (“It’s a new technique called survival”), the size of the audience and the influence it has over his performance, the resurgence of jazz on the contemporary musical scene, the difference in recording movie themes and hit records, (“It’s sorta like shootin’ craps”), his jazz-rock musical inspired by Anne Frank’s book, what it takes to become a successful musician and practicing his piano exercises, while watching the news on TV, with his earphones plugged into his television set (“It keeps me in top shape, but it’s really terribly boring”).

 Eric Kunzel |
The Eric Kunzel Interview – Eric Kunzel, the popular and talented guest conductor of the Boston Pops (after Arthur Fiedler), and one of America’s favorite orchestra leaders, welcomes friends into his backstage trailer for a coupla beers, during intermission at a Dallas Symphony “Summer Pops” series, and has his own mini-version of a “tailgate party” while he talks about music from the movies (“It’s a hell of a wonderful art”), directing the Boston Pops (“a great honor”), the city of Boston in general (“baked beans, the Red Sox and Arthur Fiedler”), the Broadway music of Oscar Hammerstein and what it’s like conducting a symphony orchestra playing music from “Star Wars” in a casual atmosphere (“sorta kickin’ back and having a lot of fun”).

 Roger Williams |
The Roger Williams Interview – The renowned concert pianist and recording artist Roger Williams chats warmly in his trailer-dressing room on the parking lot of a Dallas Symphony Orchestra “Summer Pops” music series. He remembers “going ape” after turning down the movie soundtrack for “Rocky” and “Star Wars” in lieu of “King Kong” and observes that he’s more concerned about how well he plays, rather than where he plays and is always working to be a little better (“You gotta keep your chops up”).
