A. No rumor. It’s a fact. “The Sopranos” was actually turned down by three networks – FOX, CBS and ABC before landing on HBO. Incidentally, the show collected 18 Emmy nominations, this year’s highest total.
Q. Is Regis Philbin really planning to quit his TV show? – J.D., Cleveland, Ohio.
A. He says he is. The network is set to renew his contract, but he claims he won’t resign. In fact, Regis, apparently, is so mad at his network, he’s asked David Letterman to think twice before making a change from CBS to ABC. (Even Kelly Ripa is in Regis’ corner. Once at odds with the veteran TV host, she now praises Regis and credits him with her success).
